AAI WR Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 36 Graduate & Diploma Apprentice Posts

Airports Authority of India (AAI), a Mini Ratna Category-1 Public Sector Enterprise, has issued Advt. No. 03/08/2026/APPRENTICE (Graduate/Diploma)/WR inviting applications for engagement of 36 Graduate and Diploma Apprentices at Regional Headquarters, Western Region, Mumbai for the year 2026-27.

The engagement is under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and runs for one year across Western Region airports. There is no application fee, and selection is based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination rather than a written exam — which makes this one of the more accessible openings currently live for fresh graduates and diploma holders in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and the UT of Diu.

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate Apprentice (Finance): A degree in Commerce (B.Com) or a Bachelor of Business Administration.
  • Graduate Apprentice (Electrical / Civil): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Electrical, or in Civil, from a recognised institution. Knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Graduate Apprentice (Electronic Communication / Tele Communication): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronic Communication or Tele Communication.
  • Graduate Apprentice (IT / Computer Science): Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Graduate Apprentice (Mechanical Engineering): A degree in Engineering or Technology (Mechanical or Automobile) from a statutory university or an institution empowered by an Act of Parliament, or the graduate examination of professional bodies recognised by the Central Government as equivalent.
  • Graduate Apprentice (HR): A degree in any stream with knowledge of computers and administrative work.

  • Diploma Apprentice (Mechanical Engineering): Diploma in Engineering or Technology (Mechanical or Automobile) from a statutory university or an institution empowered by an Act of Parliament, or an equivalent diploma examination of a recognised professional body.

The qualification must be from a recognised institute with a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate, relaxed to 45 percent for SC and ST candidates. Degree and diploma courses must be full-time and regular — a four-year degree or a three-year diploma from an institution recognised by AICTE.

If your marksheet shows CGPA, CGPI, CPI or SGPA, it is your responsibility to convert it into a percentage using the conversion criteria issued by your university, board, AICTE or institute.

Eligibility Criteria

Domicile

Only candidates who are domiciled in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh or the UT of Diu and reside in the area near the respective airport listed above are eligible.

Year of Passing

Candidates must have passed the degree or diploma on or after 1 April 2022. Anyone who has completed more than five years from the date of passing the qualifying examination, reckoned as on the date of joining, is not eligible. Students who have appeared for the final year examination and are awaiting results may apply, but engagement is subject to qualifying and producing the certificate.

Age Limit

Minimum 18 years and maximum 26 years as on 31 July 2026. Upper age is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer). Where reserved-category candidates are not available, those seats are filled from other reserved or general categories.

Prior Apprenticeship or Experience — Read This Carefully

Two disqualifications under the Apprentices Act catch out a large number of applicants:

  • Candidates who have already completed an apprenticeship, terminated one midway, or are currently pursuing an apprenticeship with another organisation or with AAI at the same qualification level are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have had training or job experience of one year or more after acquiring the essential qualification are not eligible.

Selection Process

  1. Selection is based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. There is no written test.
  2. Candidature remains provisional. Final selection is by interview and verification of certificates and testimonials.
  3. A Certificate of Medical Fitness must be submitted at the time of joining, obtained only from a Gazetted Government Medical Officer or a Medical Officer of a Government Undertaking.
  4. A police verification certificate from the local area of residence is required.
  5. Shortlisted candidates are called for interview and document verification through their registered email ID only — so use an email address you check regularly.

Stipend Structure

Category Establishment Share Government Share (via DBT from BOAT) Total per month
Graduate Apprentice Rs 8,850 Rs 6,150 Rs 15,000
Diploma Apprentice Rs 6,550 Rs 5,450 Rs 12,000

The Government share is credited directly to the apprentice’s registered bank account through BOAT, which is why the bank details entered at registration must be correct — requests for change after registration are not entertained.

How to Apply Online

  1. Register as a student or apprentice on the NATS 2.0 / BOAT web portal at nats.education.gov.in or moenats.aicte-india.org. Registration on the portal is mandatory before applying.
  2. After enrolment, apply to the AAI advertisement shown on your dashboard.
  3. Your documents are verified by BOAT, after which you complete the application to Airports Authority of India, RHQ Western Region, Establishment No. WMHMCC000058, under your desired trade.
  4. Only applications received online through the NATS portal are considered. No other mode of correspondence is entertained.

It is the candidate’s own responsibility to get the profile verified on the respective Regional BOAT portal. For portal issues, BOAT Western Region, Mumbai can be reached on +91-22-24055635 / 24053682, by email at director.boatwr@gmail.com or natssupport_student@aicte-india.org, or on the toll-free line 1800-222-060.

Important Instructions

  • Applications for more than one discipline will be rejected. Choose one and apply only for that.
  • Incomplete applications, or those without supporting documents, are rejected.
  • Requests for change of mailing address, category, discipline, qualification or bank details after registration will not be entertained.
  • OBC candidates must submit a Non-Creamy Layer certificate in the Government of India proforma with validity mentioned. OBC candidates falling in the creamy layer may apply as “UR”, provided they meet the UR age criteria.
  • Reservation for SC/ST, OBC and PwD applies as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and rules framed thereunder.
  • Furnishing false or incorrect information at any stage results in cancellation of candidature.

No Guarantee of Employment

This point deserves emphasis before you commit a year. Under the Apprenticeship Amendment Rules, 2015, it is not obligatory for an employer to offer employment on completion of apprenticeship training. AAI states clearly that it is not liable to offer employment to apprentices engaged, has no stated policy for recruiting apprentices, and that candidates have no right to claim regular employment on the basis of this training.

There is one concrete benefit, however. Apprentices who successfully complete one year of training at AAI are exempted from paying application fees in future direct recruitment at AAI, subject to meeting the other requirements of the relevant advertisement.
