MECL Executive Trainee Recruitment 2026 Notification Out – Apply Online for 13 Posts

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL), a Mini Ratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, has issued Advertisement No. 02/Rectt./2026 for 13 Executive Trainee posts in the Electrical and Mechanical disciplines. Online registration opened on 1 August 2026 and closes on 14 August 2026.

Read the next sentence before you do anything else, because it decides whether this recruitment is open to you at all. MECL is not conducting its own examination. Post-Wise Vacancy Details

All thirteen seats are open to freshers, with no post-qualification experience required for any of the four posts. Twelve of the thirteen are Mechanical, which makes this a mechanical engineering drive with a single electrical seat attached rather than an even split. MECL notes that the vacancies are provisional and may be increased, decreased or left unfilled at the company’s discretion.

Eligibility Criteria

The ESE 2024 Condition

Three things must be true together, and all three are checked at document verification.

• You cleared the written round of UPSC ESE 2024.
• You appeared for the ESE 2024 interview.
• You were not recommended for final selection by UPSC, and you consented to your score being shared on the UPSC website.

That consent clause is the one candidates forget. UPSC asks at the time of the examination whether your score may be shared with other recruiting organisations. If you declined, MECL has no way of verifying your marks and your application cannot proceed. It is worth checking your own ESE records before paying the fee.

Educational Qualification

Courses must be approved by UGC and AICTE wherever applicable. Degrees obtained through Open and Distance Learning are not permissible, which is stated explicitly and is not a matter for appeal at verification.

Age Limit

The crucial date for eligibility is 1 August 2026, and every age calculation runs from it.

One important detail on category. Your category status in UPSC ESE 2024 does not carry over automatically to MECL’s process. Caste and community certificates must be valid as on the crucial date of 1 August 2026 and must be in the prescribed Central Government format.

Application Fee

A registration fee of ₹500 applies to General, OBC and EWS candidates. SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and departmental candidates are exempt. Payment is made online through net banking or the QR code hosted in the Careers section of the MECL website. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or selection.

Selection Process

There is no written examination and no personal interview conducted by MECL. The whole process runs off the UPSC score, in four steps.

1. Applicant lists are prepared in decreasing order of marks out of 1200 scored in UPSC ESE 2024, separately by category, for the Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
2. Eligible candidates are shortlisted on the ESE 2024 score together with the other eligibility criteria, as per MECL’s extant Recruitment Rules.
3. Shortlisted candidates are called for Document Verification.
4. Where the documents are found suitable and match the advertisement, an offer of employment is issued.

Tie-breaker: where two candidates hold the same total ESE 2024 score, seniority in age as per the Matriculation certificate is considered first, and a higher aggregate percentage in the essential engineering degree second.

The practical consequence is that your position is already fixed. Nothing you do between now and the closing date changes your rank, so the only thing that can cost you a seat is an application error or a missing document. Treat the upload stage with more care than you would for a recruitment where an exam still lies ahead.

Salary and Benefits

Selected candidates join as Executive Trainees for a one year training period at an initial basic pay of ₹40,000 per month in the E-1 (IDA) scale of ₹40,000 to ₹1,40,000, with Industrial Dearness Allowance on top. The post also carries:

The Service Bond You Should Understand First

This is the part of the advertisement that deserves a careful read before you commit, because it has a real financial consequence.

• Executives and Executive Trainees must serve a minimum of 36 months after joining.
• A service bond of ₹1.8 lakh must be executed for that 36 month period.
• A retention deduction of ₹5,000 per month is made from salary, refundable without interest on completion of 36 months of service.
• Appointment carries one year of probation, extendable by up to one further year at the discretion of the Appointing Authority.

Read those together. Over three years the retention deduction totals ₹1.8 lakh of your own salary, held back and returned at the end without interest. That is a normal PSU arrangement and not a hidden charge, but it does mean your take-home during the bond period is lower than the pay scale suggests. Factor it in rather than discovering it on your first payslip.

Applications received through any route other than the MECL Online Recruitment Portal are summarily rejected. Do not register more than once for the same post; where multiple applications exist, only the one with the higher Application Number is considered. • Only Indian nationals are eligible.
• Appointment is subject to being declared medically fit by a Government Medical Officer or the CMO of a Government hospital, covering vision, hearing, cardiovascular health and other parameters.
