Recruitments selected by walk-in interview with no written examination — common for senior resident, contractual medical, faculty and project posts. Venue, reporting time and documents required are listed for each.

What a walk-in recruitment is

A walk-in means selection by interview on a stated date at a stated venue, with no written examination. You attend with your documents, register on the spot and are interviewed the same day. There is often no online application at all, and for candidates who interview well but test poorly these are among the most winnable government openings available.

Where they are common

  • Senior Resident, Junior Resident and other hospital medical posts
  • Contractual and project staff in research institutions and government projects
  • Guest and contractual faculty in colleges and universities
  • Nursing, paramedical and laboratory posts under health missions
  • Skilled technical and trade positions in public sector undertakings

What to carry

Take originals plus at least two sets of self-attested photocopies of every certificate, along with passport photographs, a photo ID, your experience certificates and registration where a council registration is required. The notification lists what is mandatory, and candidates are turned away at the desk for missing a single document.

Arrive well before the stated reporting time. Registration usually closes at a fixed hour regardless of how many candidates are still queuing, and once it closes there is no second sitting.

Read the terms before you travel

Many walk-in posts are contractual, for a fixed term, and are not permanent government appointments — some carry consolidated pay rather than a pay-matrix level, and renewal is not guaranteed. That is not a reason to skip them, since they are genuine experience and often a route into the organisation, but check the tenure, pay and renewal terms in the notification before spending money on travel.
