TMC Scientific Assistant Recruitment 2026 – Walk-in on 11 August

Tata Memorial Centre is filling one Scientific Assistant position at its Centre for Cancer Epidemiology in Kharghar, and it is doing so the old way. No online form, no written test. Candidates turn up on 11 August 2026 with their certificates and are interviewed the same morning.

The notice carries number CCE/Advt./249/2026 and was signed on 28 July by the Assistant Administrative Officer at CCE. It is a project post paying ₹45,000 a month for an initial six months.

Pay ₹45,000 per month
Walk-in date Tuesday, 11 August 2026
Reporting window 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Location ACTREC, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai 410210

Who is eligible

The essential qualification is an M.Sc. in Clinical Research or Public Health. The notice adds a second condition inside the same sentence, and it is easy to skim past: a computer course in office software. Carry that certificate along with your degree.

Applicants who have spent a year in data analysis, cancer registry operation or clinical research get preference. Experience is not listed as essential, so a recent postgraduate can still attend, though they should expect experienced candidates in the room.

What the work involves

Four things. Managing Cancer Registry data, reviewing literature, preparing reports, and coordinating with the scientific and ethics committee.

Anyone whose M.Sc. was built around bench work should weigh that up before booking travel. This job sits with datasets and committee paperwork, not with a pipette.

Where to go, and when

Reporting runs from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. The venue is Room No. 205 on the second floor of the Centre for Cancer Epidemiology, inside the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer at Sector 22, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai 410210.

Arrive inside that hour. The notice offers no alternative slot and no second date.

Papers to bring

Originals, plus one set of photocopies, of each of these:

  • Bio-data
  • Qualification certificates
  • Experience certificates
  • Birth certificate
  • Photograph
  • PAN card

That list ends with “etc.” in the original, so Aadhaar and any supporting paperwork are worth carrying too. Document check happens before the interview, and it is the originals that get checked.

How long the job lasts

Six months to start, or until the project stops running, whichever comes first.

Tata Memorial Centre is a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy. Project posts here are funded by the project rather than sanctioned against a permanent strength, which is why the tenure is written the way it is. Candidates weighing this against a longer contract elsewhere should read that line literally.

Other openings for science postgraduates

CSIR-CFTRI in Mysuru is taking applications until 12 August for three Project Associate posts on an AI and food fortification project, with stipends of ₹25,000 and ₹28,000. Medical postgraduates should look instead at NALCO’s Medical Officer and Specialist recruitment, which has no application fee and no written exam.

Questions candidates are asking

Do I need to apply online first?

No. Attend on 11 August with your bio-data and documents. There is no form to fill beforehand.

Can I attend if I reach at 11:30 am?

The reporting window closes at 11:00 am and the notice sets out no exceptions. Plan to be at Sector 22 well before it.

Is experience compulsory?

It is not. One year in data analysis, cancer registry work or clinical research earns preference, but the essential qualification is the M.Sc. plus the computer course.

What if my M.Sc. is in a related subject rather than Clinical Research or Public Health?

Those two subjects are what the notice names. Anything else is a judgement call for the panel on the day, so carry your syllabus and transcripts if you decide to attend.

Will the six months be extended?

Only if the project continues. The engagement ends with the project, whatever the calendar says.

Is travel reimbursed?

The notice makes no mention of travel allowance for walk-in candidates.
