Indian Army SSC (Tech)-68 Men Recruitment 2026: Notification, Eligibility, Dates, Salary
The Indian Army has invited online applications from unmarried male engineering graduates for the Short Service Commission Technical entry, SSC (Tech)-68 Men. The course will commence in April 2027 at the Officers Training Academy, and this is one of the largest technical entries in recent years with 350 vacancies across six engineering disciplines.

Only the specific engineering streams and their AICTE-approved equivalent streams notified in the official advertisement are accepted; degrees in any other stream are not eligible, and the vacancies are tentative and may be re-appropriated by the Army during the selection process.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Indian citizens, or Nepal subjects, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of settling permanently in India (subject to an eligibility certificate where applicable).
Marital Status
Candidates must be unmarried. Marrying during training, or after applying but before joining, leads to discharge or cancellation of candidature.
Educational Qualification
Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree, or are in the final year and can provide proof of passing by 1 April 2027, are eligible. Final-year candidates are inducted on an Additional Bond Basis until they produce the degree certificate.
Physical Standards
Minimum physical standards before joining the academy include a 2.4 km run in 10 minutes 30 seconds, 40 push-ups, 6 pull-ups, 30 sit-ups, two sets of 30 squats, two sets of 10 lunges, and basic swimming fundamentals.
Selection Procedure
- Shortlisting: Based on the cumulative percentage of marks up to the final semester/year, applied stream-wise against the vacancy-to-call-up ratio.
- Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview: Candidates select their SSB dates and centres online on a first-come, first-served basis; the interview runs over five days.
- Medical Examination: Conducted after the SSB for recommended candidates, with a validity of 270 days from the Special Medical Board to the PCTA joining date.
Training, Pay and Allowances
Training lasts 46 weeks at the Officers Training Academy, Gaya, at government expense, and successful cadets are awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Military Studies & Defence Management from Magadh University. During training, cadets receive a fixed stipend of ₹56,100 per month. On commission, officers start as Lieutenant in Pay Level-10 (₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500), plus Military Service Pay of ₹15,500 per month and allowances such as Dress Allowance, Transport Allowance and Children Education Allowance where applicable. The tenure of service is 10 years, extendable by a further 4 years, and cadets are insured for ₹1.25 crore under the Army Group Insurance Fund during training.
