FDDI Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for Chief Engineer & Superintending Engineer Posts

The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, has released Advertisement No. FDDI/ADV/3/2026 dated 17 July 2026, inviting applications from experienced professionals for two senior non-academic positions at Head Office.

Both posts sit in the Engineering and Maintenance (Project) department, Projects domain, and both are civil engineering roles. Online registration opened on 17 July 2026 at 11:00 AM and closes on 16 August 2026 at 11:59 PM.

These are not entry-level or mid-career openings. The essential experience requirement is 22 years for Chief Engineer and 20 years for Superintending Engineer, with an upper age limit of 55 for both — which places the target candidate squarely in the late-career, CPWD-experienced bracket.

Vacancy Details and Salary

Sr. Designation Post Code Vacancies Upper Age Limit Minimum Monthly CTI (Rs)
1 Chief Engineer E7 Not specified in the advertisement 55 years 1,50,000
2 Superintending Engineer E6 1 55 years 1,20,000

The vacancy column for Chief Engineer is left blank in the advertisement table, while Superintending Engineer shows one post. FDDI separately reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts depending on requirement, so the count should not be treated as fixed either way.

What the CTI Figure Includes

The salary shown is monthly Cost-to-Institute (CTI), not take-home pay. FDDI spells out what is bundled into it: basic pay, House Rent Allowance, Special Allowance, Provident Fund, leave encashment benefit, Leave Travel Concession, reimbursement of mobile phone expenses, reimbursement of medical expenditure, and gratuity.

Candidates comparing this against a government pay-level figure should account for that difference. A CTI of Rs 1,50,000 a month is a materially different proposition from a Rs 1,50,000 in-hand salary once PF, gratuity and reimbursements are stripped out.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Chief Engineer (Post Code E7)

Essential Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised University or Institute.

Desirable Qualification: M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Eng.) in Civil Engineering.

Essential Work Experience:

  • At least 22 years of experience in planning, designing, organising and controlling civil infrastructures, handling at least 5 civil construction projects
  • Knowledge and experience of managing the tendering process
  • Experience in preparation of work estimates and in-depth knowledge of CPWD Manuals
  • Experience in civil maintenance works

Desirable Work Experience: handling modification works in old civil projects; coordinating and monitoring projects centrally for multiple locations; supervising civil, electrical and mechanical maintenance works at multi-locations; and proven leadership quality.

2. Superintending Engineer (Post Code E6)

Essential Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised University or Institute.

Desirable Qualification: M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Eng.) in Civil Engineering.

Essential Work Experience:

  • At least 20 years of experience in planning, designing, organising and controlling civil infrastructures, handling at least 5 civil construction projects
  • Knowledge and experience of managing the tendering process
  • Experience in preparation of work estimates and in-depth knowledge of CPWD Manuals
  • Experience in civil maintenance works

Desirable Work Experience: the same four desirable items as for Chief Engineer.

The two roles are near-identical in specification. The essential difference is two years of experience — 22 against 20 — and the CTI band. Candidates with 20 or 21 years of qualifying experience are eligible only for the Superintending Engineer post.

The CPWD Manuals requirement is the real gatekeeper in both specifications. It is listed as essential, not desirable, alongside tendering and work estimates. Applicants from a purely private-sector construction background without CPWD exposure should weigh that carefully before applying.

Nature of Engagement

Both posts are on a long-term contract basis of 3 to 5 years. The contract is extendable based on FDDI’s requirement and the performance of the individual, at the discretion of Management. It is not a permanent regular appointment.

One condition deserves attention before applying. Employees appointed through Head Office or campus-specific advertisements must serve at the respective campus for a minimum of three years of continuous service, and are not eligible to apply for or seek transfer during that period. That restriction runs one way only — FDDI retains the right to transfer an employee to any of its campuses at any time on administrative grounds.

Selection Process

Recruitment is through a written test or interview. Only shortlisted candidates are informed, by email or post, and no correspondence is entertained with candidates who are not shortlisted.

A few points on how FDDI runs the shortlist:

  • Meeting the job requirements does not entitle a candidate to an interview call. FDDI can reject an application without assigning a reason.
  • FDDI can raise the standard of specifications to restrict the number of candidates called for the written test or interview.
  • FDDI may call a candidate for selection at a level higher or lower than the post applied for, commensurate with the actual qualification and experience the candidate holds against the eligibility conditions in the advertisement.
  • Appointment is subject to medical fitness, based on a medical examination as per the Institute’s directives.
  • The decision of Management regarding selection is final.
  • No Transport Allowance or Daily Allowance is paid for attending the interview.

How to Apply for FDDI Recruitment 2026

  1. Go to https://www.fddiindia.com/career.php and register.
  2. Fill and submit the online application form for the post you are applying to.
  3. Upload the required documents mentioned in the online form for that position. Filling the form alone is not sufficient — the document uploads are a stated requirement.
  4. Submit before 11:59 PM on 16 August 2026. Only online registered applications are accepted.

If your certificate scans need resizing or bundling before upload, our free browser-based photo and signature resizer and JPG to PDF converter will handle it without any software install.

General Conditions

  • Only Indian nationals may apply.
  • Minimum qualifications must be from a recognised University or Institution.
  • Reservation policy, including age relaxation, follows Government of India rules. SC, ST, OBC, PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates must enclose a copy of the prescribed certificate issued by the competent authority.
  • The upper age limit is calculated as on the release date of the advertisement — 17 July 2026 — not as on the closing date. If you are close to 55, confirm your position on that date with our age eligibility calculator.
  • Applicants working in Government organisations or PSUs must submit an NOC from their current employer. Arrange this early, as it depends on someone else’s signature.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected, and no further correspondence is entertained.
  • FDDI is not responsible for postal delay, wrong delivery or non-delivery of communication at any stage.
  • FDDI is not liable to compensate applicants for consequential damages, if any.
  • Any subsequent changes, information or updates on this advertisement are uploaded to the FDDI website — check it periodically.
