Central Railway Teacher Recruitment 2026 – Walk-in for 17 Posts
The Divisional Railway Manager Office (Personnel), Central Railway, Mumbai CSMT has issued Notification No. BB/P/WEL/09/Rly Sch KYN dated 03.08.2026 to engage 17 Contract Teachers at Central Railway Secondary School (E.M.) & Junior College, Kalyan for the academic year 2026-2027.
Selection is by walk-in interview held over three consecutive days, 19 to 21 August 2026, with one category called each day. There is no online form, no application fee window and no written examination stage announced in the notification. You reach the venue on the day assigned to your category with your papers in order.
These are Group ‘C’ posts on contract basis, and the notification is unusually direct about what that means. The engagement runs for a maximum of 200 working days and a minimum of 7 working days, or until a regularly selected candidate becomes available, whichever comes first. Read the terms section below before you plan your travel — several of the conditions are stricter than in a typical school contract engagement.

Vacancy Details, Qualification and Salary
Six PGT posts, seven TGT posts and four Primary Teacher posts make up the 17 vacancies.
| Sr. | Post | Vacancies | Educational Qualification | Remuneration (per month) |
| 1 | PGT English | 01 | M.A. with English Literature as the main subject, B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 2 | PGT Economics | 01 | M.A. (Economics), B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 3 | PGT Business Studies | 01 | M.Com, B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 4 | PGT Accountancy | 01 | M.Com, B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 5 | PGT Chemistry | 01 | M.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 6 | PGT Biology | 01 | M.Sc. (Biology), B.Ed. | Rs 27,500 |
| 7 | TGT Hindi | 01 | B.A. with Hindi as a subject in all three years, B.Ed., CTET | Rs 26,250 |
| 8 | TGT Social Science | 02 | B.A. with any two of History, Geography, Economics or Political Science, B.Ed., CTET | Rs 26,250 |
| 9 | TGT English | 02 | B.A. (English), B.Ed., CTET | Rs 26,250 |
| 10 | TGT Computer Science | 01 | B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science or IT; OR B.Sc. (Computer Science)/BCA or equivalent with a PG degree in the subject; OR M.Sc. (CS) or MCA or equivalent; OR ‘B’ level from DOEACC with a PG degree in any subject; OR ‘C’ level from DOEACC with graduation | Rs 26,250 |
| 11 | TGT Maths | 01 | B.Sc. with PCM, B.Ed., CTET | Rs 26,250 |
| 12 | Primary Teacher (PRT) | 04 | Class 12 with at least 50% marks and D.Ed. (two years), CTET | Rs 21,250 |
| Total | 17 | |||
Two points worth noting from the qualification column. First, CTET is listed against every TGT and PRT post but not against any PGT post — so a post graduate applying for PGT English or PGT Chemistry does not need a CTET certificate under this notification, while a Primary Teacher applicant does. Second, the TGT Computer Science entry accepts a wider set of routes than the others, including DOEACC ‘B’ and ‘C’ level qualifications, which opens it to candidates without a conventional B.Ed. background.
The notification also states that the number of vacancies shown is anticipated and may vary according to the actual requirement arising in the 2026-2027 academic session.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The age criterion is calculated as on the date of the notification, 03.08.2026, and candidates should be between 18 and 65 years as per KVS rules. The 65-year ceiling is far higher than most teaching recruitments allow, which makes this a realistic option for retired school teachers and for candidates who have aged out of regular railway or state recruitment. If your date of birth sits close to either boundary, work out your exact age on the cut-off date with our free age eligibility calculator before you travel.
One inconsistency to be aware of: the application form printed with the notification asks for “Age as on 15.05.2026”, while the eligibility clause in the notification text specifies 03.08.2026. If the two dates produce a different result in your case, carry proof of your date of birth and raise it at the verification desk rather than guessing on the form.
Minimum Marks
At least 50% marks in the concerned subject is mandatory for each of the PGT, TGT and PRT categories. This is stated separately from the qualification column and applies across the board.
Completed Qualification Only
Candidates must hold the required academic qualification on the date of the interview. Those who are appearing at, or awaiting the result of, a final examination are not eligible. Academic and technical qualifications must come from a recognised Institution or Board, failing which the candidature is rejected.
Selection Process
- Selection is through a walk-in interview conducted by a Selection Committee on the date fixed for your category.
- Engagement is subject to being found suitable in order of merit by the Selection Committee.
- The selected panel is then sent for a Medical Test as per rules.
- Candidates applying should indicate past service rendered on Indian Railways, if any, including any period of contract service already put in.
There is no separate written test mentioned in this notification, which is a meaningful difference from many other contract teaching walk-ins. Preparation time is better spent on subject depth and on demonstrating classroom method than on exam-style revision.
Documents to Carry
Candidates called for interview must bring the following original documents along with one attested copy of each:
- Date of birth certificate or Class 10 Board certificate
- NOC from the current employer, if you are presently employed
- Experience certificate, if any
- Academic and educational qualification for every category applied for, from a recognised Institution or Board — both marksheet and certificate
- Aadhaar Card and PAN Card
The NOC requirement catches out serving teachers regularly. If you are currently employed anywhere, arrange the No Objection Certificate now rather than in the week of the interview, because it depends on someone else’s signature.
The application form attached to the notification asks for your full name, date of birth and age, father’s or husband’s name, religion and nationality, permanent address with state, mobile number, email in capital letters, community and sub-caste, sex and marital status, a qualification table from Class 10 through post graduation with university or board, year, subject and percentage, an additional qualification table for D.Ed. and B.Ed., an experience table, two marks of identification and a list of enclosures. A recent passport size photograph must be affixed in the box at the top right.
Fill the form in before you leave home. If you need to size the photograph correctly or keep scanned copies of your certificates on your phone as a backup, our free photo and signature resizer and JPG to PDF converter both run entirely in your browser.
Terms and Conditions of the Contract
The notification sets out the contract terms in unusual detail, and they deserve a careful read before you accept an offer:
- Contract teachers have no claim or right to continuity in service or to automatic extension of the contract term.
- Service rendered on part time contract carries no weight towards regular selection through the Railway Recruitment Board, and contract teachers do not form part of the cadre of railway teachers.
- Engagement may be for a period of not less than 7 working days and not more than 200 working days. The arrangement can be discontinued at any time without prior notice and without assigning any reason.
- The maximum teaching periods allotted to a contract teacher should not exceed 5 in a day.
- Contract teachers perform all academic work including evaluation, with no payment over and above the periods taken.
- Contract teachers are not entitled to leave, medical facility, passes, PTO or transportation.
- There is no vacation pay during autumn or winter break. Remuneration is consolidated and monthly, and pro rata recovery is made for absence from duty on working days.
- Pro rata remuneration is calculated as: (consolidated monthly remuneration × number of days worked) ÷ 30.
The decision of the office on eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, penalty for false information, selection and allotment of posts is final and binding, and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained. Candidates who submit a forged caste certificate to secure eligibility are liable to have their candidature for the post rejected.
