The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati (NIPER-G) has issued Advertisement No. NIPERG/Project-Rectt./2026/05/Re/10, dated 30 July 2026, to fill the post of Chief Executive Officer at its Bio-NEST incubation centre. The consolidated amount is ₹1,00,000 and the online window closes at 5:00 PM on 14 August 2026.

About Bio-NEST NIPER-Guwahati

NIPER-Guwahati, established in 2008, is the only National Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the entire North Eastern Region. Its focus is drug discovery and development built around the natural and synthetic products of the region.

Bio-NEST NIPER-Guwahati stands for North-Eastern Societal aspect for Translational Phytopharmaceutical and Herbal Research. The centre is funded by BIRAC, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, under the Bio-NEST scheme (Bioincubator Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technology), and is operated and managed by NIPER-Guwahati. The CEO runs that incubator.

Eligibility Criteria

There are two separate routes into this post, and you need to satisfy only one of them.

Route 1 – Doctorate

A Doctorate in Life Sciences or allied sciences from a recognised University, with at least five years of experience, excluding the PhD tenure if any, across at least 2 to 3 sectors. Those sectors may include Industry, CRO, Technology Business Incubators, Start-ups, Innovation Management, or Academic and Research organisations.

Route 2 – Business Management

A Master’s Degree in Business Management from a recognised University with 10 years of managerial experience across at least 2 to 3 sectors, which may include Industry, CRO, Technology Business Incubators, Start-ups, Venture Capital Firms in technology sectors, or Innovation Management.

Common Requirement for Both Routes

Whichever route applies, the advertisement also asks for experience in articulating incubation policy documents, working knowledge of the start-up and entrepreneur ecosystem, proactive networking with industry and incubation centres, and mentoring for routine operations. Treat this as part of the essential block, not an optional extra.

Desirable

A PhD in Life Sciences or allied areas is preferable, and preference goes to candidates who have worked at science and technology-driven start-up incubators.

Age Limit

Maximum 45 years, further relaxable for reserved categories as per Government of India norms. Age is calculated as on 14 August 2026, the last date of application.

Understand the Nature of the Engagement

This is a project post, not an Institute post, and the advertisement is unusually direct about what that means:

• The appointment is for one year, or less if the project is terminated earlier.
• It will not continue beyond the duration of the project under any circumstances.
• Any subsequent contract, in this project or another, counts as a fresh appointment.
• An appointment in an outside-funded project gives project staff no claim whatsoever to appointment or regularisation against any Institute post.
• NIPER Guwahati reserves the right not to fill the post in the event of exigency.

Selection Process

Candidates employed in Government Organisations such as CFTIs, Autonomous Institutions and Universities must apply through the proper channel, or produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview. If selected, a Relieving Letter is required when reporting for duty. An advance application is allowed, but participation in the selection process is permitted only if the application arrives through proper channel or the NOC is produced on or before the interview date.
