Read the confidence level
An entry here is not a notification. Vacancy counts change between announcement and publication, sometimes by a wide margin, and announced recruitments are occasionally deferred by a year or dropped entirely. Where a figure is an estimate rather than an official number, the entry says so plainly. Do not pay anyone for early access to an unreleased notification — there is no such thing.
Using the lead time well
The most useful thing to do with an upcoming notification is administrative, not academic. Get your certificates in the current prescribed format, renew anything with a validity period, prepare a photograph and signature to the usual specifications, and confirm your date-of-birth record matches your matriculation certificate. Candidates lose applications to paperwork far more often than to the paper itself.
