IAF Agniveervayu Recruitment Rally 2026 – Intake 01/2027 for Nagaland and Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The Indian Air Force, through the Central Airmen Selection Board, has announced an Open Recruitment Rally for enrolment as Agniveervayu (Other Than Science Subjects) under Intake 01/2027. The rally is region-specific and covers candidates domiciled in the North Eastern states and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

One feature separates this from most Agniveervayu cycles and it is the reason candidates should read the schedule carefully. There is no online application. Eligible candidates report directly at the allotted venue on their scheduled date. Nobody sends you an admit card, nobody confirms your eligibility in advance, and there is no second chance if you arrive after the cut-off time. Everything is decided at the ground.

Activity on both days at each venue covers the Physical Fitness Test, Written Test, Adaptability Test-I, Adaptability Test-II and medical appointments.

The Reporting Time Rule

The rally commences at 6:00 AM and only candidates reporting up to 10:00 AM on their scheduled date are permitted entry. This cut-off is absolute. Given the travel realities in the North East and the islands, plan for a delayed bus, a cancelled train or a fogged-in flight, and reach the rally town the previous evening rather than the same morning. Candidates who miss the cut-off have no remedy in this cycle.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit

Candidates must be born between 1 January 2005 and 1 July 2009, both dates inclusive. If a candidate clears all stages of selection, the upper age limit on the date of enrolment must not exceed 22 years.

Marital Status

Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. An Agniveervayu must remain unmarried through the four year engagement period, and marrying during that period leads to dismissal from service. Female candidates additionally undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement, failing which they are liable for dismissal and are debarred from selection into the Regular Cadre.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed one of the following.

• Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent in any stream or subject from a Central, State or UT recognised education board, with a minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English.
• A two year vocational course from a recognised education board, with a minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English. Where English is not a subject in the vocational course, the 50% requirement is met from Intermediate or Matriculation.
• A three year diploma course in engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology from a recognised polytechnic, with a minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English, on the same English fallback rule.

Percentages are not rounded up. Only the exact aggregate before the decimal, as recorded in the mark sheet or as calculated under the rules of the board or institute, is considered. A candidate at 49.99% is treated as 49% and is not eligible. This single clause disqualifies more borderline candidates than any other in the notification, and there is no appeal against it at the venue.

Domicile Requirement

Candidates must satisfy one of the following to appear at either venue.

• Permanent domicile of the covered states or UT, supported by a Domicile Certificate issued by a Gazetted Officer of the Revenue Department or another authorised official, with the candidate’s and parent’s names matching the matriculation certificate.
• COAFP-I: children of serving Air Force personnel, including officers, airmen, NCs(E) and unit cadre civilians paid from defence estimates, whose parent is presently serving in an Air Force unit located in the covered districts. Own domicile status does not matter in this case.
• COAFP-II: children of retired, discharged or deceased Air Force personnel who reside in the covered states or UT, with proof of at least one year of stay along with the relevant service documents.

Medical Standards

Medical standards are checked strictly and are a common point of rejection. Assess yourself honestly against these before spending on travel.

Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board by depositing ₹40 through e-MRO or MRO within three working days of the medical examination. That window is short, so ask for the procedure at the centre on the day rather than after returning home.

Selection Procedure

Selection runs as a single continuous process at the venue, and failing any stage ends the candidature immediately.

Step 1: Verification of Eligibility

Original or DigiLocker-verified educational certificates and other applicable documents are scrutinised before the Physical Fitness Test to establish prima facie eligibility.

Step 2: Physical Fitness Test

PFT-I: a 1.6 km run to be completed within 7 minutes for male candidates and 8 minutes for female candidates.

PFT-II, conducted after ten minutes of recuperation:

• Male candidates: 10 push-ups in 1 minute, 10 sit-ups in 1 minute and 20 squats in 1 minute, with rest intervals between exercises.
• Female candidates: 10 sit-ups in 1 minute 30 seconds and 15 squats in 1 minute.

The run is the filter that removes the largest number of candidates. Seven minutes over 1.6 km is a steady pace rather than a sprint, but it needs several weeks of preparation on a measured route, not a week of enthusiasm.

Step 3: Written Test

Conducted the same day for candidates who clear the PFT. Duration is 45 minutes, bilingual in English and Hindi except for the English paper itself.

Each paper must be qualified separately. Marking is +1 for a correct answer, 0 for an unattempted question and -0.25 for a wrong answer or a multiple-option response. With only 20 English questions and a separate qualifying requirement, a weak English section cannot be compensated by a strong RAGA score.

Step 4: Adaptability Tests

Adaptability Test-I is an objective written test assessing suitability for employment in the Indian Air Force. Adaptability Test-II, conducted the same or the following day, assesses adaptability to the Air Force environment and the military way of life.

Step 5: Medical Examination

Held in September at designated Medical Boarding Centres. Candidates from the Nagaland rally are examined at Jorhat (11 ASC) and those from the Andaman & Nicobar rally at Sri Vijaya Puram (8 ASC). Investigations include baseline blood, urine and biochemistry tests, chest X-ray, ECG and, for female candidates, ultrasonography.

Pay, Allowances and Seva Nidhi

Agniveervayu are paid a monthly package with 70% received in hand and 30% contributed to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, matched equally by the Government.

On exit after four years, an Agniveervayu receives a one-time Seva Nidhi package of approximately ₹10.04 lakh, excluding interest. Additional benefits include Risk and Hardship Allowance, dress and travel allowance, ration, clothing, accommodation, Leave Travel Concession, 30 days of annual leave, sick leave as advised, and non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh during the engagement.

Be clear about what the scheme does not include. Agniveervayu are not entitled to gratuity, pension or Ex-Servicemen status after discharge. On completion of four years, up to 25% of each batch may be offered enrolment into the Regular Cadre as Airman, based on organisational requirement and performance. There is no automatic right to continue.

Documents to Carry to the Rally

Because there is no online application, your document folder is your application. An incomplete set is turned away at the gate.

• Writing material including an HB pencil, eraser, sharpener, glue stick, stapler, and black and blue ball-point pens
• Ten unattested recent passport size colour photographs, taken holding a black slate with the name and date written in white chalk
• Original or DigiLocker-verified printout of the matriculation passing certificate, with four self-attested photocopies
• Original or DigiLocker-verified printout of the 10+2, Intermediate, Diploma or Vocational course certificate and mark sheet, with four self-attested photocopies
• Original Domicile Certificate with four self-attested photocopies, or the applicable COAFP or Air Force civilian employee certificate with service documents
• NOC in original for candidates presently serving in any government organisation
• Discharge Certificate for candidates discharged from the Indian Army, Navy or another government organisation
• Photographs of body tattoos, if applicable, as per the prescribed specifications
• NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate, if held
• A duly filled and signed Consent Form for the Physical Fitness Test and Medical Tests. Candidates below 18 years need a parent or guardian signature

Prepare the photographs several days in advance. The black slate requirement catches candidates out every rally, and a local studio may need a day’s notice to shoot them correctly.
